New Dawn Rose

Give this climber a couple of growing seasons and it will reach up to 25 feet in length.

New Dawn is a great rose to plant against a tall wall or long fence row.

Full pink blooms will appear all over the length of the canes during the summer months and the foliage remains green year around.

This fast growing rose variety will need lots of space to grow in and does produce vigorously growing side shoots that will need to be pruned each spring.

Hardy in growing zones 5-9.

Plant in a full sun location, deadhead throughout the season, feed once a month with a water soluble fertilizer in addition to the spring time application of granulated fertilizer. 

Add a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help retain soil moisture and prevent weed growth.

Golden Showers Roses

A climbing yellow rose that produces a fragrance that will fill the summer air.

A fast growing rose that has bright yellow blooms that grow in clusters all across the vines that are covered with dark green glossy leaves.

This climber will reach a mature length of 6-10 feet within a couple of growing seasons. 

Hardy in growing zones 5-10, Golden Showers is a rare rose variety that will tolerate poor soil and some shade each day, making it a perfect choice for planting in a garden area where few other plants will grow.

Apply a side dressing of slow-release granulated fertilizer in early spring then again in mid-summer to keep Golden Showers growing and blooming.

Add a layer of mulch around the bush to help retain soil moisture and prevent weed growth.

Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more budding, prune as needed in the early spring.

Knock-Out Roses

If you don’t have garden space for a fast growing climbing rose, but still want fast rose bloom color, a Knock-Out Rose bush may be perfect for you.

This rose bush variety is as close to care-free as one can be, requiring only a spring-time feeding and late fall pruning. 

Knock-Out Rose bushes are covered with red blooms (single and double petal varieties available) from spring through summer.

They can deadhead themselves and will reach their mature size of four feet tall and wide within two growing seasons. Disease resistant and hardy in growing zones 4-9. 

Plant in full sun and keep bush fed with a bi-weekly supply of water soluble rose food and side dressing of compost.

Mix in slow-release fertilizer to the soil at planting time and give this vigorously blooming rose bush a side dressing of granulated fertilizer in the early spring.

Mulch to retain soil moisture and prevent weeds from growing and competing with the rose bush for soil nutrients.

The Knock-Out Rose bush can be pruned back to one foot tall in the late fall if desired to promote vigorous growth the following spring.

American Beauty Climbing Rose

This climber produces dark pink roses in a cupped shaped with a multitude of petals.

This hardy rose bush will adapt to most any soil condition and partial shade. It will reach a mature height of 12-15 feet.

Prepare the soil before planting the American Beauty rose by amending it with with compost.

Dig a planting hole twice as wide and deep as needed, then create a 50/50 mixture of soil and compost to back-fill the hole.

There will be some extra soil/compost mixture leftover, but you can always find a use for it in the garden.

Don’t feed the bush the first growing year, then feed it with an organic rose food in the spring, and again in mid-summer.

Add a fresh layer of compost around the base of the rose bush at the same time also.

Prune away dead or diseased canes in spring and feed immediately after pruning. Snip off spent blooms to encourage more buds to form. Bush will produce blooms from spring until fall.

Water bush deeply once a week. Blast aphids off the underside of leaves with a water hose.

Cecile Brunner Rose

This fast climbing rose with produce an abundance of small, pointy light pink blooms in double sprays.

Makes an ideal cutting rose for bouquets and the blooms have a sweet-spicy fragrance that will fill the air.

Fast growing rose that has an old-world, romantic look that makes it a popular climbing rose for cottage gardens and country gardens.

Cecile Brunner needs to planted in full sun in well draining, fertile soil.

This climber will reach a mature height of 20 feet, and it will need plenty of food and water to enable it to produce the massive amount of blooms each year.

Prepare soil by digging a planting hole twice as wide and deep as needed, then create a 50/50 mixture of soil and compost to back-fill the hole.

Plant the bush, water in thoroughly, then place a 2 inch layer of compost on top of the soil.

Prune and train as desired. Keep dead canes and spent blooms pruned off, saving any major pruning until early spring.

Feed with an organic rose food in the early spring before new growth begins, and feed again in mid-summer.

Water deeply once a week, twice a week in mid-summer. Cecile Brunner is a hardy, disease resistant rose.

Dublin Bay Rose

This fast climbing rose variety produces velvety red blooms with double petals.

The dark green glossy petals are also an attractive feature of the Dublin Bay rose. 

Reaching a mature height of 12 feet, this climber is a sun-lover and needs to be planted in full sun and well-draining soil.

The large (4“) lightly scented blooms will appear from spring until frost and make excellent cut flowers.

Select a planting location that will provide the Dublin Bay climber with plenty of direct sunlight and air circulation.

Dig a planting hole twice as wide and deep as needed, then create a 50/50 mixture of soil and compost to back-fill the hole with.

Water rose bush thoroughly at planting time and weekly during the growing season.

Keep diseased damaged or criss-crossed canes pruned off as needed to promote good air circulation for the rose. Feed in the spring and again in mid-summer.

Fourth of July Rose

The red and white striped blooms helped to give this climbing rose its name.

Abundant clusters of semi-double, fragrant blooms with appear from spring until autumn and the rose will climb up to 15 feet when mature.

Select a sunny location, then prepare the soil by digging a planting hole twice as wide and deep as needed, then create a 50/50 mixture of soil and compost to back-fill the hole.

This hardy climber with completely cover any horizontal or vertical outdoor surface.

Remove spent flowers, weak and dead stems.

Cut back stems in early spring when buds have broken and feed with an organic fertilizer. Feed again in mid-summer. 

Water weekly.
